Privacy Policy

BoreShot Published by Airworthy Labs LLC Effective date: 2026-05-03

The short version: BoreShot does not collect your data. Camera frames stay on your device. Photos go to your Photos library — nowhere else. No accounts, no servers, no tracking. The sections below spell out the details.

1. Who we are

BoreShot is published by Airworthy Labs LLC, a limited liability company registered in the United States. You can reach us at support@boreshot.app.

2. What we collect

Data transmitted to Airworthy Labs servers

Nothing. In v1, BoreShot does not send any data to Airworthy Labs or any third party. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and no telemetry services embedded in the app.

Data stored locally on your device

BoreShot stores per-camera profiles in your device’s local storage (iOS UserDefaults). These profiles hold your preferences for each camera you connect — things like saved image enhancement settings, white balance corrections, and control configurations. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to Airworthy Labs.

Crash reporting (potential future addition)

We may enable Apple’s MetricKit framework in a future update. MetricKit is Apple’s first-party crash and performance reporting tool. It does not include a third-party SDK, does not identify individual users, and operates under Apple’s own privacy practices. If we enable MetricKit, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before releasing that update. No crash reporting is active in v1.

3. What we do NOT collect

We want to be specific here because trust is earned by saying the quiet part out loud:

  • No photos or video frames are uploaded. Everything your camera captures stays on your device. We do not have a server that receives image data.
  • No location data. BoreShot does not request or use location permissions.
  • No ad tracking. There are no advertising SDKs, no IDFA usage, no cross-app tracking.
  • No behavioral analytics. We do not use Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase Analytics, or any similar SDK. We do not know which features you use or how often you open the app.
  • No account required. BoreShot has no sign-up, no login, and no user profile on our servers. Your Apple ID is handled entirely by Apple for purchase and subscription management — we never see it.
  • No in-app purchases data. Apple processes all payments. We receive a transaction receipt to verify your purchase status; we do not receive your payment card number, billing address, or any financial information.
  • No contact information. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other identifier unless you contact us directly for support.

4. Permissions we request and why

BoreShot requests the following system permissions. We request only what the app needs to function.

Camera access

Why: To display and capture images from your device’s built-in cameras. Without this permission, the core feature of the app cannot work.

Photos library access

Why: To save photos and videos you capture to your Photos library, specifically to a “BoreShot” album. We read from Photos only to display your recent captures within the app. We do not scan your existing photos, and we do not upload anything from your library.

USB device access (External UVC cameras)

Why: To connect and receive video from USB-C borescope and inspection cameras. This permission allows the app to communicate with external hardware you plug in. No data from USB devices is transmitted off your device.

5. App Store privacy nutrition label

Apple requires us to declare our data practices in the App Store. Based on BoreShot’s current design:

Data Used to Track You: None

Data Linked to You: None

Data Not Linked to You: None in v1. If MetricKit crash reporting is enabled in a future version, we will declare “Crash Data” and “Performance Data” under this category before releasing that update.

The current App Store label reflects a “Data Not Collected” status.

6. Children’s privacy

BoreShot is rated 4+ on the App Store. The app is a professional imaging tool — it has no features directed at children and no social or communication components. Because we do not collect any personal information from any user, there is nothing specific to disclose regarding users under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR). If you believe a child has sent us personal information through a support request, contact us at support@boreshot.app and we will delete it promptly.

7. International users

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the following applies under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK Data Protection Act 2018:

Because BoreShot collects no personal data from you, there is no legal basis for processing to declare, no data retention period to disclose, and no data to transfer internationally. You retain full control of everything stored locally on your device.

You have the following rights under GDPR and UK DPA, even though we currently collect nothing to act on:

  • Right of access — You may ask what data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — You may ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — You may ask us to delete data we hold about you.
  • Right to restriction of processing — You may ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to data portability — You may ask for a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Right to object — You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@boreshot.app. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

BoreShot does not sell personal information, does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. California residents have the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale — none of which are applicable here because we collect nothing.

If you contact us for support and share personal information in that context, you may request deletion by emailing support@boreshot.app.

Brazil (LGPD)

Brazilian users are protected under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados. Because BoreShot does not collect personal data, the LGPD’s processing requirements are not triggered. Your rights under LGPD mirror those listed under GDPR above and can be exercised by contacting us at support@boreshot.app.

8. Third-party services

Apple: BoreShot is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. Apple processes all purchases, subscriptions, and payments under their own privacy policy. Apple may collect diagnostic and usage data from your device under your device’s settings. We do not control what Apple collects. See apple.com/privacy.

No other third-party services are integrated in v1.

9. Data security

Because BoreShot stores only local preference data on your device, the security of that data depends on your device’s operating system security — primarily iOS/iPadOS/macOS’s built-in sandboxing and encryption. We do not operate servers that hold your personal data, so there is no server-side security posture to describe.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy — for example, if we add a cloud sync feature or enable crash reporting — we will update the effective date at the top of this document and note the change in the App Store release notes before that version ships. For significant changes, we will provide notice in the app.
